A response to the Arizona Shooting

I believe in the rule of law and that violence and guns have no place in political discourse.  I don't know if the disturbed person who attempted to assassinate a member of our government believed he was acting in a political manner or not, but I believe that hope lies in peace and democracy.
(Off my soapbox to say that this is my first homework assignment for my photoshop class taught my Kim Klassen. I edited this again (twice) after my initial post to clean up a typo and turn the second set of words white. I'm actually quite pleased with myself.  I took the flag photo today at my local post office.)

I agree with you and I am continually astounded that a large and relatively successful democracy as the US still allows its citizens to so freely carry guns and purchase ammunition - there are ways for farmers and sporting shooters to still have access without the general population needing guns or having such relative easy access .... unfortunately the lobbyists and their money seem to speak louder than the need to preserve human life ..... oops, perhaps too much for this forum?

bummer the bottom words could not be white .. would have made that typo stand out even more :D JK .. was pretty sure it was supposed to be democracy, BUT i actually looked up "demorracy" just in case it was some esoteric word i didnt know :D

Coming from Britain, where it is unusual for your average person to own a gun, it seems a recipe for disaster to allow firearms to be so easily bought and for so many people to be allowed to own one. We watched this story unfold in terror, it is heartbreaking for totally innocent people to lose their lives just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your photo is so appropriate for this post and I am sure there is someone out there who can tell you how to get those letters in white!

It's so sad that one persons actions can have such a negative affect on so many. I agree about the gun issue. I'm not a fan of everyone owning a gun and how easy it is to get one. I really like your photo and how it turned out.

love the photo, it's so telling of how we feel right now. The shooting was a horrible event and we are all sadden as a country. You are left to wonder how something like this can happen. The gunman must be crazy and if so, how could he have obtained a gun....

The problem with guns and gun control is that the people who use them in such a terrible manner or who run in gangs, will find them with or without laws. I personally will not allow a gun in my house.

This is so sad that one person with whatever distorted views, could cause so much loss and pain.

Your picture tells it all! Violence has no place in a civilized society.
